Playing in the snow in the English countryside
We spent a weekend away in Bradford-on-Avon (near Bath)...it just so happened this was one of the only weekends the London and southern UK got snow. This made for an intense drive from London, but wow were we rewarded the next day.
We awoke to see the endless rolling hills covered in over 30cm of fresh snow, a truly gorgeous landscape. Deciding to not tackle the roads and instead opted for an unknown wander to a nearby town. It turned out brilliantly, the walk followed the canals and we both enjoyed making fresh tracks in the snow and watching local children taboggan down hills (ever saw a family, including the dad using boogie boards to do so!).
We were rewarded with the best cream tea (2 scones each, clotted cream, fresh jam, piping hot pot of tea) and a wonderful wander through a really historic old town. On the drive back to London we really wanted to visit Nunney Castle, Chris tackled extremely icey roads that looked like we may never reach the destination, however we got there and the Nunney Castle was well worth the visit (the frozen moat was very cool). Completing the weekend with yet another brilliant Sunday pub roast, we counted ourselves very lucky to experience a white English weekend in this way.
